Our MMS students participated in the ASPIRE Academy on Friday!
The ASPIRE Academy is a dynamic, one-day journey of learning and exploration designed for our middle schoolers, focusing on leadership 🌟, professionalism 👔, and career exploration 🔍. The day included business tours 🏢, where local professionals offered a glimpse into various career paths and shared the key skills needed for success. #MonettCubs

The MMS Yearbook staff recently attended the fall Jostens Yearbook Conference.
At the conference, students:
✅ Learned about the importance of teamwork
✅ How to best create a yearbook
✅ Designed the cover with Jostens cover artists
✅ Won the Jostens scavenger hunt for the second consecutive year
✅ Won Starbucks gift cards
After the conference, students ended the trip with a nice picnic lunch in the park. The students have set the goal to include all students at least three times in the yearbook this year. They held a commitment ceremony with ring pops to make the BEST yearbook ever!
Stuff the Bus week was a success! ✅ We thank the Stuff the Bus team 🚌 and our supportive community for donating school supplies for children in our area. 💜 Every donation, no matter how small, can change a student's entire school year. 🎒✏️
🏟 The Burl Fowler Stadium is officially REOPENING after updates and improvements over the summer. The Burl Fowler Stadium was given a fresh makeover with brand-new resurfacing and stripping. 🐻

Students from MECC and MMS collaborated in a multicultural literacy event where MMS students read books MECC students in their respective home languages, including Karen (Sgaw), Spanish, and English. This event provided an opportunity to celebrate different cultures and languages while promoting literacy among younger students. 📚
🎉 Congratulations to our MMS Baseball team for becoming the Big 8 Champs three years in a row! ⚾🏆
Reminder: Spring break begins tomorrow, Thursday, March 9, and ends on Monday, March 13. Students return to school on Tuesday, March 14.

On Monday, our ELD (English Language Development) teachers at MMS shared student cultural projects for teachers to engage and learn more about the students' cultures within their campus.

We are excited to welcome our students back to school today!
Congratulations to the undefeated team, pictured below, for winning the MMS dodgeball tournament before school was out. The funds collected from the tournament will go towards the Health.Moves.Minds Fundraiser.
We hosted our first Chess Tournament in Monett earlier this month. Our students took 2nd place overall!
Our top finishers who contributed to the team score were:
Evan S. (MMS): 3rd overall
Chance J. (MMS): 4th overall
Gabe B. (MMS): 5th overall
Blaze B. (MHS): 8th overall
Violet S. (MIS): 9th overall
Congratulations to each of these students and everyone who participated in the tournament! We had 33 students compete from Monett alone. It was the biggest team ever fielded.
Our offices are closed for the holidays. Our offices will be closed beginning today, Thursday, December 22, to Friday, January 6. Our offices will open back up on Monday, January 9, 2023. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 10. Happy Holidays from everyone at Monett R-1! ☃️
