Summer School Update

Dear Parents,

This is an update for the July Summer School session. Our July Summer School session is from July 6th - 30th with Friday's off. The following is a breakdown of how summer school will operate for each grade level. We are working closely with the Lawrence and Barry Counties to ensure the safety of our students and teachers; plans are subject to change at any time.

Incoming Grades K-6th: We will hold summer school at the MES campus for grades K-6th, as most enrollees are from the MES campus.

Food Service will continue to operate at the MES cafeteria. You may continue to pick up meals from MES.

Incoming Grades 7-8: We are still accepting student enrollment for MMS. If you missed the first deadline, and wish to enroll your middle school student, feel free to sign them up under the enrollment tab for grades 7th-8th.

Incoming Grades 9-12: MHS students will be taking online courses with the exception of fitness classes. High school enrollment has closed.

As we continue to move forward with the July Summer School session, the safety and wellness of our students and staff continue to be our number one priority.

The following are health guidelines we will follow to increase the safety of students and staff:

  • We are not offering bus transportation.
  • We are limiting the number of students in each classroom to provide adequate spacing.
  • We are rearranging desks to increase space in between students.
  • We will practice social distancing as much as we are able or as much as possible.
  • We will have a nurse on each campus to provide additional health support.
  • Sick students or staff must remain at home.
  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to monitor their child’s temperature and keep them home if they have 100.0 or greater.
  • Students will have breakfast and lunch in larger rooms or classrooms with space in between each child.
  • Custodians will be doing extra cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Students will have frequent breaks to wash hands during the day.
  • Disinfecting stations have been installed at the main entrances and cafeteria entrances. More stations will be installed as supplies come in.
  • Water fountains will be closed. The district will provide water bottles, or students may bring water bottles from home. All schools have water bottle filling stations.
  • We will continue to provide physical activities to meet local and state recommendations.
  • Students will be allowed to wear masks; however, they must be provided by the parent or guardian. Mask care procedures must be taught at home.
  • We will prohibit the sharing of school supplies.
  • Due to the unique circumstance, we will not offer attendance rewards such as gift cards at the end of summer school.

If you have questions, feel free to call your child’s respective school office or email socialmedia@monettschools.org.

We look forward to a Summer School session full of learning and many adventures.
